For me, coming from Houston to this community, we just fell in love with the camaraderie, the way people have great patriotism. It’s like stepping back in time and taking a deep breath from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

When you get away from Houston, not only do you have beautiful stars at night, but you have the gorgeous sounds of nature.

We’ve always lived in the more traditional neighborhoods in northwest Houston where we came from. Moving out here, we noticed that the houses are much further apart and not as many people, but there’s that privacy. You feel like you’ve got your own little spot there yet everybody’s close enough where you can still form some good relationships and good friendships in the neighborhood.

In Houston, you’ve got so many neighbors all around you that you tend to make your friendships outside your neighborhood. Out here, we just enjoy one another’s company.

Not only do we live close to College Station, if we want to go to Houston, and get back there, it’s 90 minutes down to the Willowbrook area. We’ve been in King Oaks in our new home for about a year and a half now and we love it here. It’s like living in the country, living on a ranch, but it’s only 15 minutes to town, so you have the best of both worlds here.

It’s really good when you move from all different places to come here and have a way to quickly connect with other people. You’re leaving, sometimes, lifelong friends, and you come here and there are other people who are leaving lifelong friends who want to know you and want to be your friend. So, it’s great.

This is a very, very rare community in the way of belonging and family and just having a place where people care about one another. It’s unique.
