If you are looking for fun, food, culture, and music all wrapped up in a restored historical district, then you have to come to First Friday’s in downtown Bryan, Texas. It’s a great way for friends and community members to enjoy each other in a space that will take you back in time and have you marking the first Friday of each month on your calendars.
Every month offers different activities depending on the season, so it’s important to check out the Downtown Bryan blog to see what events are taking place. There’s always unique shopping, live entertainment and delicious food. My family likes to start off the evening by eating at one of the great downtown restaurants. There are a variety of cuisines available including, Italian, German, Mexican, and all American.
A walk over to the outdoor Palace Theatre to hear terrific live music is one of many venues that entertain my family and the masses, offering a wide genre of music such as, Jazz, Country, Rock, and Classical. Strolling down S. Main Street the kids love to watch demonstrations of weaving, painting and clowns creating balloon art, just to name a few. They also love looking at the architecture of the buildings and peering inside the old Queen Theater, which is the latest restoration project.
Some other memorable activities that First Friday offers are outdoor movies at Sale Park and horse-drawn carriage rides that begin at the historic La Salle Hotel. Once you experience this festive and cultural event you will want to keep coming back for more.
